The name Jagjit Singh Aurora is almost parallel to the independence of Bangladesh. We sincerely remember his contributions to the Liberation War. Lt. Gen. Aurora, then Chief of Bangladesh-India Joint Command, played a dynamic role and routed the Pakistan army in one of the swiftest operations ever and forced Lt. Gen A A K Niazi, Chief of Pakistan's Eastern Command, to surrender with his 93,000 troops just within two weeks of the war starting. There is no denying the fact that without India's help and heroism, the Bangladesh Mukti Bahini (liberation forces) would have taken months more to liberate our land from the occupation army. Our nation would always remember this great war hero with deep gratitude. His contributions would ever remain fresh in our hearts.
