The government is contemplating a ban on import of petrol as it is being used to adulterate octane. This is nothing but an eyewash as no mention has been made of the steps/measures to be taken to prevent other modes of adulteration. A cheap chemical by-product (from certain chemical-plants), known as "condense", is the substance being mixed with both petrol and octane by unscrupulous traders!
