Bangla Motor crossing

We are all aware of the recent death of a senior journalist at the Bangla Motor crossing. This was not the first time that such an accident took place. About three years ago a brilliant graduate engineer, only 27 years old (son of a poor school teacher), died at the same spot, again knocked down by a bus.

I was very pleased when the Mayor in a recent announcement declared that the junction would be widened and made safer for the pedestrians and for smooth running of the vehicles. He also declared that two buildings on northeast & northwestern sides of the square would be demolished for the purpose.

To my utter surprise, I noticed that the completion of the under-construction building on northeastern side is going on in full suing!

Does it mean that the Mayor's announcement has been overturned & cancelled? Or Rajuk does not give any heed to such an important announcement?

If you investigate that side of the corner, how come Rajuk could give permission for such a building in the first place? The footpath is narrow and there is so much obstruction in that corner that even two people cannot pass through the footpath.

I appeal to the Mayor and Rajuk officials to look into the matter.
