Bangladeshi TV programmes in India

Many Indian TV channels including quite a few Bangla ones reach Bangladesh. But the reverse is not true.

Long back , Bangladeshi TV channels could be tuned not only in border areas but also well inside West Bengal, though sometimes with support of gadgets. But gradually the scenario changed with the advent of the satellite TV channels . Recently, a few Bangla TV Channels of Kolkata like the Tara Bangla or ETV Bangla gave coverage to Bangladeshi news in their news broadcasts. That Bangladesh viewers are in their minds is quite clear since they mention both Kolkata and corresponding Dhaka times while advertising for their programmes. That is welcome.

Of late, ATN Kolkata has been broadcasting Bangladesh's NTV's Bangla news programmes for the viewers on the Indian side. But the question remains why Bangladesh TV channels cannot reach India with ease, especially when it appears that the advertisers from both the countries may use Bangla channels to reach the other side of the border too.

Some time back in the 'Live dashtaay' programme anchored by Kabir Suman in Kolkata's Tara Bangla this matter was touched a bit. Cannot some light be thrown into the same by the media in both countries ?
