BCS doctors

A great number of BCS doctors have been eagerly waiting for the authority's call to undertake government service foundation training (FT). According to the service rules, FT is required to get appointment as permanent staff along with passing the departmental examination. As far as we know, in other cadre services, the officers are called to the Public Administration Training Centre (PATC) by their respective authorities soon after joining government service. In health cadre, it is the DGHS (Directorate General of Health Service), which holds the onus of selecting the trainee doctors to send to PATC in phases. Beset with fund constraints, the DGHS could not keep pace with the onrush of trainees. As a result, a number of doctors are left in the pipeline even after passing the departmental examinations. It is also alleged that the DGHS is following neither seniority nor the merit criterion while sending the names of the trainees. That is a gross irregularity.

I would request the authorities concerned to look into the matter and bring back discipline to an important service. The doctors should not be made to suffer for no fault of theirs.
