Beautification of Dhaka

Sometimes it seems that the process of beautifying Dhaka will never come to an end. In the name of beautification, roads are dug to build and rebuild dividers again and again. To enhance beauty, trees are being planted on the dividers. But, ironically, our weather does not suit the trees and they are dying. The illumination equipment at Sheraton intersection has been removed in view of traffic jams. But what was the use of installing the water fountain at the airport intersection? Are not these contradictory decisions? Isn't it playing ducks and drakes with people's money?

The bottom line is that the government should take pragmatic steps to beautify the city. It could do it by minimising the number of the ever increasing billboards, prohibiting writing on the walls and last, but not the least, by removing all those trash and garbage from the roads.
