Better alone!
According to the Awami League as reported in DS of 19 March,'05, Bangladesh will become a friendless state(!), as they could not perceive or understand the straightforward and bold stand the popular prime minister took when she dwelt on the unwanted and untoward interference by some diplomats and donor countries in our internal affairs including domestic politics! There is nothing wrong in it if she (the Hon'ble PM) has expressed feelings against subservience. Do not we poor public or the leaders of our benign govt. know how badly we need more and more friends and their assistance for the solution of our multi-pronged problems? The simple fact is also known to all of us that it's 'better alone than in evil company'. But, amusingly, the AL termed the PM's speech 'a ploy to trouble the next elected govt'. How interesting, just like in 2001, the AL is day dreaming that they are destined to be elected next time!
Last but not the least, the AL is trying to teach the PM political manners and diplomatic norms (instead of supporting the PM for upholding the prestige of the country) when she just pointed out that some diplomats (should we assume being dictated) are not following norms but exceeding limits permissible under Vienna Convention.
