'Black-gold' of Cox's Bazar
It is unfortunate that most of our people know nothing about and they have never seen the valuable minerals zircon, rutile, garnet, magnetite and monazite etc, etc, which I call 'black-gold' of Cox's Bazar.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Science and Technology, Geological Survey of Bangladesh, Bangladesh Scientific Research Council, Bureau of Minerals and Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission etc., have not taken any pragmatic step over the last three decades for the utilisation of the minerals of an estimated value of over ten thousand crore taka.
As such the costly minerals worth billions of dollars are being neglected, left uncared for, wasted and lost due to various reasons.
