The Bangladesh Bank has shown its great courage and integrity by dissolving the board of directors of a private bank and taking over full control for its poor service and mismanagement. As newspapers wrote it was the first move of its kind the Bangladesh Bank has ever taken against any bank. I could not but appreciate such attempt to protect the interest of general people when the Governor assured the depositors and asked them not to be tensed about their money. I would like to thank the Governor for taking the decision in time and want to request him to continue this drive against all financial institutions that are not capable of providing proper service as per the directives of the central bank.

In the last few decades, financial institutions including banks, NGOs and insurance companies mushroomed in Bangladesh. We often see news reports of fraudulent activities by some of these organisations. They flee the scene misappropriating the money of the depositors. There should be a tight monitoring system for these organisations and stern action should be taken against the cheats.
