Closed-circuit television

The dramatic move by the government to set up closed-circuit television at important hospitals, banks and public places should be welcomed as a wise decision taken to curb criminal activities. Such type of television will help the police to trace the culprits. But my doubts about the effectiveness of the system remain. It will detect crime committed by outsiders but what will happen to the culprits operating from within? There are too many corrupt people in the financial institutions.

Political pressure and lack of freedom in the banking sector is hampering the achievement of targeted growth, though BB Governor Salehuddin Ahmed has refuted the allegation in a recent seminar. He shrugged it off saying that more freedom is not necessary.
