As per Companies Profits (Workers Participation) Ordinance, 1995, the employees having basic salary/wages less than Tk 9,000(nine thousand) are entitled to receive profit share under the Companies Profits (Workers Participation) Act, 1968.

In the light of the above, it is observed that some senior officials of production department and other related departments who are closely involved in profit earning of a company, are deprived of receiving profit share. This is not acceptable, and it causes mental agony to them.

It is true that a company experiences the pleasure of making profit due to the untiring and diligent labour of workers, staff and officers in a production oriented factory. But due to having basic salary/wages over Tk 9,000, they do not get share of profit.

A good number of subordinate employees are performing their duties under the efficient and effective guidance of senior officers having a higher scale or basic pay of more than Tk 9,000.

The salary and wages of workers, staff and officers have been increased, side by side the remuneration of respected ministers and members of parliament has been revised and duly applauded considering the current market position. Therefore, the amount of nine thousand, which was revised from five thousand and five hundred taka in the beginning of 1995, by this ordinance, should be readjusted by another revision soon.
