I wrote a letter regarding our cricketers one month ago. Bangladesh cricket was in dire straits, after having a series of disappointing performances. The confidence of the players reached the lowest ebb during the last home series against New Zealand.

Still I was very much optimistic. You know why ? "Enjoying the game" was probably the only option that our cricketers were left with. I recommended this idea in that letter. I used to believe and still believe that from the time our boys start enjoying the game, they will start getting better results. One glaring example was the last match which the boys won. The body language of the players was suggesting that they were enjoying every minute of the game. You see the result - an amazing victory. Well done boys!

In the last few days there was so much of criticism about their performance. But what annoyed me most was that everyone was putting forward so many suggestions, as if our cricketers didn't understand anything, thereby adding more pressure which resulted in further bad performance.

I just want to request all those 'cricket pundits' not to pass comments which will jolt the mind of our cricketers. Remember it is more of a mind game. Let them enjoy the game. They will not let you down!

It was a dream come true when I called home to know that Bangladesh had finally clinched the long awaited victory. But alas, I was not there to witness this glorious moment. First time in my life did I not watch one of Bangladesh's winning matches. The last match had left my hopes high and I was desperate to know the results of the second ODI. I constantly checked the newspapers over the internet and finally not being able to hold back my patience, I called home.

Maybe, I was not a physical existence in the world of cheering and all the festivity amidst the red and green, but I was part of it all the same. Home or away, we, the Bangladeshi fans all around the world, feel the same vibes when our team is out there in the field and the only thing we wish to see is a fighting team.

We are very proud of our cricketers.

My and my family's heartiest congratulations to the Bangladesh cricket team for their wonderful victory. Hope to see some more of the same in the future, Insha Allah.
