I take exception to the letter of Mr. Muhammed S Jamal published in The Daily Star on April 2.Mr. Jamal in his letter apart from other claims stated that a Jumma prayer held in New York last month led by a lady Imam (1) Rocked the Muslim World (2) It was a conspiracy to give bad name to our sacred religion - Islam (3) Muslims must be careful. This single event of 1 Friday prayer (out of the mandatory, daily five times prayers) was well covered in the electronic and print media without creating an iota of bubble to my knowledge and info.

The 64 million dollars question is how the aforesaid lousy rich bunch become an affront to our sacred religion Islam, thriving robustly over the past 1411 years? I am even aware that their ugly wealth could barely attract 150 worshippers. What the writer forgets is the fact that the humble journey of the sacred religion of Islam began 1411 years ago in the isolated sand dunes of Arabia and now covers four corners of the Earth with followers stated to be approximately 2 billion.
