Cricket

In the back drop of our continued failure in international cricket, some nice and practical thoughts which have come from different quarters deserve consideration from our think tank. Our present captain Bashar said that our batsmen have done comparatively better on hard and bouncy wickets and we should prepare our home wickets in that manner. This is really true. Our cricket management would be wise to do so, discarding the defeating thought of slow wickets.

Former captain Masud is absolutely correct when he says we should not expect big scores/centuries/long innings from our batsmen when they are unable to perform like that in local cricket in the absence of a proper domestic set up. Will our cricket management be a little wiser to understand this simple truth? It seems we are obsessed with 20 and 50 over cricket. But our test cricket will never survive without a proper domestic infrastructure of 3-4 day matches.

Cricketing experts, respectable commentators, opposing players, captains, and coaches are all unanimous about our on field performances in saying that our batsmen play too many shots too early and their shot selections are very poor. Mr. Whatmore, you are a famous coach. Can not you do something on these aspects of our batsmen?
