Crossfire deaths and human rights
Like the law minister, many people appreciate the acts like crossfire deaths by RAB and say that crossfire has nothing to do with violation of human rights. If crossfire is the ultimate solution to curb terrorism, killings, rapes, corruption and so on, then what is the necessity of the judiciary. So far as many as 60 persons have been killed in crossfire by RAB. Such intentional killings are only saving the godfathers of the terrorist from the hand of justice. Admittedly most of those killed were criminals or top terrorists or were on the wanted list of the police. Apart from deaths in crossfire several deaths in custody of RAB are also on record (Dec 2). No doubt RAB has created panic in the minds of the criminals who are on the run while at the same time it has infused a sense of security in the minds of the common people. The crossfire actions of the RAB will not bring any long-term solution to quell the law and order situation. Such actions will surely breed more social unrest in the society in the long run. The authority concerned should think over the matter without further delay.
