Dangers of excessive social media use

Millions of people in Bangladesh use the internet. A large chunk of them also use social media. In a recent study done by the Institute of Health Economics at Dhaka University, it was discovered that 88 percent students were being adversely affected by the excessive use of social media.

The study found that students who were spending too much time on social media were spending less and less time on their studies. Moreover, it was also found that the use of social media was having a negative impact on their overall state of mind.

Add to this the threat of cyber-crimes and security and the scenario becomes even more dangerous. Which is why young people should be made aware of the negative impacts of social media use, especially when done in excess.
