Legendary history of war-ravaged Iraq, almost 6,000 years old, conjures up Mesopotamia civilisation, one of the oldest civilisations of the world, a combine of three civilisations-- Sumerian, Babylonian, Assyrian.

The Sumerians were small city dwellers and their economy was based on agriculture carried on fertile land watered dextrously from the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.

The land of the oldest civilisation is now passing through a grave crisis, thanks to the American presence there.
