Dhaka-Sylhet route
The Dhaka-Sylhet route is probably the busiest railway route in Bangladesh but the service probably is the worst of all. Delayed arrival and delayed departure of trains is regular. To add to our miseries, all kinds of hassling and jostling inside and outside the train are prevalent. The Sylhet railway station platform as well as the road leading to the town is so narrow that it takes a long time to get out of the station vicinity. Considering all these handicaps, a new impressive station building was constructed four/five months back. But the most incomprehensible fact is that the newly built station is yet to be inaugurated. It has been standing there as a silent watcher of our predicament.
The authorities concerned and political bigwigs are silent about the inception of the station building. So I would appeal to our finance minister to look into the matter and take the necessary steps to open the railway station as early as possible. We, the general passengers, want a respite from this plight.
