Education fair or trade fair?
This year an education fair was held at Sheraton Hotel in Dhaka, organised by the SSBCL. I was eagerly waiting for this fair for a couple of months. After I heard that the education fair was going to be held in Dhaka, me and my friend went their but later we found many people, specially the students waiting for admission into the auditorium. With great curiosity, we stood in a long queue and entered into the auditorium with tight security. I was hopeful that I would talk to the teachers who came from abroad and inquire about their university/college, the subjects they will offer, education fees, course duration etc. But with great regret I found that none of the persons/teachers who were present there came from abroad, though the organisers advertised it in the newspaper. Only some Bangladeshi private university representatives and the media were present. As a result, the viewers, specially the students of different universities and colleges did not get the actual information.
When I wanted to know about agriculture, one of the representatives said, "At this moment I cannot talk in details about this. Please keep contact with us in our Dilkusha office." Being cheated, I came back to my campus. It seemed to me like a trade fair where education was being sold.
