Environmental pollution by dust
There are many aspects but I would like to take up environmental pollution by dust only.
In many countries I have observed that beyond metal roads, to a reasonable extent, on both sides there are hard stands or brick-swelling or planner plantation of grass, and the metal roads are kept clean so that flying dust is very minimal.
Rich countries have, however, very wide roads and no part of the road in their sidelines is open to create dust, as a result the roadside shops, houses, and other establishments around do not have problem of dust.
Being an underdeveloped and poor country could we not start in a simple way from scratch and reach the goal in a certain period of time?
In the residential areas wherever applicable house owners can be asked to either plant/sow grass or make brick-swelling from the house wall to the road edge. Drivers can be asked to remain within road limit and not to damage the side areas with their reckless driving. Blocks could be used to refrain drivers from crossing road limits.
Surely we could make an effort and through the continuous process of notices/announcements/TV and radio advertisements we could create favourable public opinion towards reaching the goal.
The DoE and the ministry concerned can take up suitable programmes to realise this. Our respected PM who has doing so much for beautifying roads and road-sides may direct concerned parties to act.
