Feeling sorry for Saurav!

Indian cricket captain Saurav Ganguly 'The Prince of Calcutta' is now totally out of form. Not only from this home series against Pakistan, his struggle with the bat started from playing against the Australians at home. His repeated poor performance has now become a serious cause for concern for the selectors and his fans. Saurav is now spending a lot of time at the nets to sort out the problem but yet he is not finding any answer to it. Some former captains of India are suggesting that Saurav quit the game or at least take a break for a while.

But I think this will not help Saurav. Those former cricketers should realise the fact that every cricketer can go through such a lean period. And he needs support from his fellow cricketers to stage a comeback. Players like Saurav will not be born every day. He is the most successful captain of India. He has still a lot more to deliver. I agree that Sehwag and Dravid are now at the pick of their form but that doesn't necessarily mean that Sachin & Saurav era has come to an end!

I hope Indian selectors will not act out of their emotions as Kapil Dev has rightly said.
