Fruitless appeal

The fervent appeal by Khorshed Alam (DS: 24 June) unfortunately falls on totally deaf ears. Today's bipartisan politics has erased words like tolerance, understanding and respect, which have been expunged from our political lexicon.

One would expect the ruling party to show some moderation and accommodation, but unfortunately they have shattered even the sanctity of the parliament with language fit for street squabble only. No action has been taken against the MP either in the parliament or by the party high command; and this is the shameful political standard, which we have to accept!

One wonders where we will end up. I have all the sympathy for Khorshed Alam, but nobody will listen to him!
