Hello, Caller!
With much interest I have gone through the feature "Caller ID can reduce crime" published in the "Star City" section of "The Daily Star" on December 06,2004. I thank the writer for focusing on the importance of Caller ID system. As quoted, the DMP Commissioner, while highlighting the urgent need for caller ID said "The introduction of caller ID in the existing system is extremely necessary for nabbing extortionist gangs, teasers and criminals in general quickly." According to the feature, the BTTB needs to invest around Tk. 30 crore to upgrade and expand networks for interconnecting fixed phone operators and Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP).
Whatever cost may be involved, the Government should provide special grant to BTTB for introducing caller ID system in public interest.
