The acting President took part in the ceremony of showing respect to the mortal remains of Birsreshtha Matiur Rahman. Why didn't the President Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed take part in it?

The government deserves credit for showing the honour that the hero deserved.

The initiative taken by the government to bring back the mortal remains of Bir Sreshtha Matiur Rahman to his beloved homeland deserves a lot of praise. But as I was watching the homecoming ceremony live on television on the night of 24 June, I was shocked to see the prime minister coming late to attend the ceremony.

I think as the prime minister of the country it was her noble duty to be present throughout the ceremony; that is, she should have been present at the airport before the arrival of the remains and remained there until they left the place.

For a great martyr of our Liberation War, this is the least we could do.
