The tragic death of Sumi, a first year student of philosophy department of Jahangirnagar University, has left a deep scar on the students of JU . Unfortunately, the students of the university experienced similar anguish on quite a few occasions in the past. Only a few days ago Sumi, a brilliant student, entered the university with the hope of receiving higher education and a golden future, but her dream came to an end with the carelessness of a reckless driver.

The Dhaka-Aricha road is a veritable death trap . But the authorities concerned are indifferent to this problem. We have heard a lot of words of assurance from them. The assurances come after every fatal accident. It is a matter of great regret that none of them has been implemented. We do not want to lose any more life. We want the guarantee of normal death, the students of JU want safety and security. Some speed-breakers and road dividers should be constructed to avoid accidents. The issue should not remain unattended has it has been over the years.
