Ill-fated science students
The existing system is responsible to a great extent for the situation. A student can gain GPA-5.00 including the additional subject but cannot get admission into his/her desired noted college, as college admission is now performed on the basis of SSC result and no doubt, 'Golden A+' (a+ excluding additional subject) is preferred most. A science student has to spend a lot more time for gaining GPA-5.00 in Bangla and English than any science subject (physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology). On the other hand, Bangla (sometimes English also) is not necessary for the admission test of various universities (DU/engineering/medical science). For which, students prefer humanities and business studies more than science as Bangla and English are the vital points for humanities and business studies faculty admission test.
Practical, a linchpin for science students, is performed now not in the school or college laboratory but in the connecting teachers' house. Many students turn away from science as they are totally unable to bear the tuition fees despite being students of govt. school or college.
