There is no alternative to training for human resource development. In this light, Shaheed Zia established the Imam Training Academy for Imams in 1979. The Imam Training Academy has been giving training on agriculture and afforestation, livestock and poultry farming, pisiculture, mass education, primary health care, religious affairs and family planning, emphasizing the six main subjects. Besides, it is working in the field of AIDS prevention , early marriage, drug-addiction and female education etc. Already, the trained Imams have got the country's supreme award for social activities. There are seven academies situated in six divisions and another in Dinajpur. It can be mentioned here that the main objective of ITA is to train five lakh Imams.

But only 50 thousand get the chance for training while the rest are on the waiting list .

This organisation is not being run properly these days. The government should look into the matter.
