Indecent behaviour by teacher
A teacher's indecent behaviour with his female student in JU is reflective of his sick mind and unless dealt with seriously may do more harm to both the teacher and student community. The guardians have correctly pointed out (DS: 2/10/05) that a teacher should be an ideal person at least in dealing with his students; any deviation in this respect must not be tolerated.
A similar case of sexual harassment of a student by a teacher was reported in BUET a couple of years back. The convicted teacher was barred from taking classes for five years. Though the punishment of the teacher was just a token considering the nature of offence, still it helped restore the academic environment of BUET. If the JU authority wants to save the culprit teacher they should at least consider a similar line of action (as that of BUET) after careful investigation.
However, the authorities must also remember that these types of teachers are nuisance for an institution.
