Judiciary in jeopardy

Bangladeshi judiciary is in an image crisis now. The total system of our judiciary has been politicised. It is alleged that most of the justices are appointed politically. Seniority and credentials are ignored in promotion and recruitment. A few months back, a senior justice was indicted for taking bribe . And now our legal arena is in bedlam on the allegation of marks sheet tampering by an additional justice. He reportedly doctored his LLB exams marks sheet.

He has been withdrawn already to lessen our concern. Frankly speaking, our judiciary has been contaminated by nasty politicisation. The ruling party appoints their lackeys as judges, or that is the impression we get. The government should halt such kind of sordid practice. They should appoint some honest, decent, veteran and professional persons as justices in our apex judicial body.

I hope the government will take this matter seriously.
