Language only?

Now it is important to have a skilled computer programmer in any organisation . Almost every CEO of an organisation is shouting that he needs a skilled programmer. Let me tell you some funny things. Once I went for interview for an IT job and they took a written exam. Do you know what were the questions? It's simply an English language test. They were trying to know whether we know the use of preposition, the use of "The" and there was a comprehension test. I have a friend who is an expert in English language but has no computer literacy (only playing games). I thought he could get the 1st place in that interview. After the written exam, they took a viva voce. Oh good Lord! here also they were searching for English skill. They asked very few questions about computer and computer programming. Then I told them about my project and my experience. They were so clever that they managed to find error on my projects and told me they are not expecting such answers. I was an unskilled programmer but I told them that I sold my project to an Australian company. They (RAMS LOAN servicing of Australia) were really grateful to me. I told the interviewer where he would find the software. Then they changed their topic and again came to the English language. I was trying to say that I had 6 in IELTS exam. But I was just stopped by them (They were the employers!!).

So I do not think by this process an organisation can get a skilled programmer.
