Leadership famine!
This bipartite politics is ruining the country, and holding it hostage to past charisma, which cannot come to our aid from the graves. Dr B has come out into the public platform at the right time to create a third component in the national politics. Former president Shahabuddin is discreetly silent, and Dr Kamal keeps a low profile. The current active political leaders just do not know where to stop--caring a hoot for political boundary conditions. Unless political bandwidth is maintained, bad politics cannot be contained. Politics is not free-for-all zulum.
This move would certainly weaken the two major political parties due to defections and frustration at the lack of opening at the top. The move will also strengthen the unity of the Islamic groups (third group, with strong support of the marginalised voters); plus, create a new fourth group of experienced dissidents.
This four-party election would be a healthy sign of change for the forward movement of our stale politics, which had been operating at the bottomless-basket level for two decades.
Leadership at the top cannot be in the defensive mode. Some innovations have to be tried to keep hope alive in the LDCs. Our static leaders do not believe in "no risk, no gain" principle -- playing safe all the time, and reducing the average life cycle of political longevity (chronic politics with one-track minds).
The future of politics would reach a turning point after the Eid holidays; The omen for the New Year is bright, with healthy cyclones.
