For fourteen years the country was governed in a democratic system by two female prime ministers, Begum Khaleda Zia and Sheikh Hasina.

We cannot work out who will win the next general election but we may ask---why people must vote for these parties, BNP and AL, and give parliamentary seats to them. Is it just for the sake of democracy or is it our ill fate? It seems the prime minister strongly believes she will be re-elected, but she must start thinking about her team's strengths and weaknesses. In Bangladesh, most of the citizens are from middle and lower classes.

They mostly think about food, shelter and clothes. The real situation is, people do not have other alternatives to choose from.

The opposition leader Sheikh Hasina had a break but she was unable to utilise it decently as time went by.
