Not you Mr Kibria
While it is expected of a former diplomat to be polite, courteous and cool, Mr Kibria's way of addressing a revered senior citizen was impolite, undignified and outrageous. Content of his article lacked accuracy and contradicted the constitutional provisions of forming caretaker government. Provisions has it that the Chief Advisor will choose at his will his advisers provided that he obtains seal of approval of the President of the Republic.
Bangladesh is a small country and the luminaries of our society are generally known and their political leanings or inclinations are also not unknown to the people. Therefore those that are not seen involved in politics and have a clean track record of being honest and fair are the right kind of personalities to be enlisted as advisers.
To be partisan is one thing but to record ones opinion as an icon of the society is another. Big names of the like of Mr Kibria should not forget that besides being a politician, he is also supposed to play some role to guide our society to a destination that does us proud. I am certain that unless the tendency to label allegations capriciously is shunned the esteemed readers of such articles will be compelled to throw them in to the incinerator. By not showing due courtesy Mr Kibria is setting a bad example to our youngster, who look up to men of his stature to set examples that they can emulate.
