The title seems to be oxymoronic. Actually, this Ontorjatra does not denote demise, but it is Tareque Masud and Catherine Masud's latest feature film "ONTORJATRA". I along with my two friends watched this captivating film in Star Cineplex a few days ago. Cinematographically, the film is certainly superb and peerless. The directorial finesse of Masud duo is really praiseworthy. They have an endeavour to bridge the generation gap through this film. The setting, characterisation, plot development, dialogue and soliloquy of this film are fabulous and impeccable. The mixture of pristine Sylheti dialect and perfect English in the dialogue has enhanced attraction of the film. There are juxtaposition of occidental and oriental cultures and societies, excessive materialism and rat race of urban people, pitfalls of ICT for young generation, environmental degradation, macho personality of domineering and egotistical male dominated society, necessity of spousal support and camaraderie to be seraphic in conjugal life, contrast between aloof love and egocentric love, desperation of freedom loving- people etc. Some colonial allusions are conspicuously portrayed in this film. The filmmakers wanted to educate, entertain and motivate the audience concurrently. The film really is worth watching. One of my friends is a Sylheti. So the ambience in the hall was more hilarious for us.

Before concluding , hats off to Masud duo for presenting us a quality feature film.

"Ontorjatra", the movie by the couple Tareq and Catherine Masud, is worth watching. Watching it in the Bashundhara Cineplex where it was released recently was a valuable experience for me.

I think anyone who is a movie lover should watch it.
