Outsourcing of jobs

The outsourcing of jobs from the west to countries where the cost of labour is comparatively low has been a popular method of saving money by many corporations. By doing this these corporations, companies and organisations are not faced with the high labour costs that include high cost of health insurance and other fringe benefits, not to mention the high wages.

India has taken advantage of this outsourcing trend in great strides. The country has become the hotbed for Information Technology and other auxiliary services such as payroll management call centres etc. Nowadays whenever one gets a phone call from a credit card company or tries to contact a call centre one usually ends up talking to someone with an English name but with an Indian accent. Part of the training included these Indian employees to take on western name so as to communicate better with their customers who are located in the northern hemisphere. One should not be surprised if someone named Harry is actually Hari.

Now with such opportunities one wonders if Bangladesh is ever going to truly take advantage of this to decrease the unemployment rate of our country.
