Parliamentary democracy
For many years, as a student of history, I have pondered over the extraordinary story of the development of parliamentary democracy, over many hundreds of years, in Britain. Now, in the evening of my days, I am trying to enter into the pains and problems of another country trying to transplant the concept into its native soil.
I have just come across a quotation that some may find helpful, from a past UN Secretary General, Dag Hammarskjold--"I count a man not by the number of his friends he can keep around him, but rather by the number of his critics he can keep around him."
