People or World Bank?
You carried a news item on the above subject in your October 12 edition. It was reported therein that the finance minister had assured the WB chief in a letter that separation of the Judiciary from the Executive would be accomplished before the turn of the year and that the anti-corruption commission would be made operational by the year end. He also delineated the action being taken by the government to achieve those goals.
It is heartening to hear about all these good tidings. But, to my knowledge, the government has not shared such specific information with its own citizens before informing the WB chief. Hence the question arises whether the government is answerable and accountable to the people or to the World Bank-- who should be addressed first?
Why is the government obliged to assure the WB before assuring its own people?
