The day before Eid night my car got stuck up near Nikunja in Uttara and it was almost midnight then. I was desperately looking for help as I was afraid that some unwanted stranger might arrive finding me stranded in the middle of the night with my wife and son.

Out of the blue, three police constables appeared and enquired abut my predicament. In no time they assured me of my safety and extended their helping hand. First, they called a taxi cab and asked the driver if he could find out the fault in my car. However, the driver could not find the fault. Then the policemen stopped a pick-up truck and asked the driver to tow my car. They managed to get some ropes from the nearby shop and tied my car to the van. When everything got over, it was almost 2:00 in the morning.

I was amazed. I really don't know how to thank them. While I bade them farewell, I whispered to my wife, "Who said police are not people's friends?" My heartfelt thanks to those helping policemen and also to the police department.
