Potter community

I come back with another positive note from Bangladesh. The 1st National Pottery Trade Fair at Bashundhara Shopping Mall, Level 7, has been a grand success.

The good news is that the potter community of Bangladesh will perhaps return from this fair with renewed gusto and spirit. Their products are being widely accepted among the droves of customers; we (Practical Action, UK and IITM) are happy to have been there to facilitate the event. It is an attempt to bring back the marginalised community of potters from the brink of extinction. It is also an attempt at reviving the age old artisanship and culture of Bangladesh through the workmanship of the potters' community.

If you have the time, please visit and make your contribution by appreciating their earthenware; if you choose to buy their products, they will be invigorated in spirit and move one step forward in economic sustainability.

Finally, I thank The Daily Star for supporting this wonderful event by becoming its news media partner.
