“Power is their ultimate goal”
I refer to the above titled letter published in your daily on February 8. The writer has been able to understand what the ultimate goal of our two biggest political parties is. In the present political atmosphere, some people are seeking “restraint”, “dialogue” and “political space” for overcoming this problem, but he has exactly answered in brief about those matters. I congratulate him because he, even being a foreigner, is concerned about the recent violence in Bangladesh.
Last year BNP-led 20 party alliances could not make any strong movement in demand of a fresh election or they did not submit any application to the Election Commission for a re-election. Now BNP is suddenly causing violence across the country to compel the ruling party for giving a fresh election under a CTG. In the name of blockade and hartal, picketers and blockaders have established a reign of terror all over the country. Nearly 90 people including children have been killed and over 150 have been seriously injured in the arson attacks. I hope good sense will prevail and BNP-led alliance will stop the violence.
