Problems at intersections
I am a resident of Road # 15 (New), 28 (Old), Dhanmondi R/A, Dhaka. I have to cross Dhanmondi Road # 27 intersection several times a day. In order to cross the short distance from Road # 28 to 27, I am compelled to invariably stop my car 2 to 3 times due to some unwanted elements like beggars and hawkers who are always busy with their begging & transactions respectively. This also happens at other intersections like Manik Miah Avenue, Mirpur Road & SAARC Fountain etc. As there are time limits at every intersection, every vehicle is in a hurry to cross the intersections as soon as possible. However, due to the earlier mentioned unwanted elements (who start to move in front of vehicles after the opening of the intersections) smooth flow of traffic is hindered and this causes congestion. It is worth mentioning that if any driver has an accident due to the presence of the unwanted elements, invariably people will hold the driver responsible. Nobody will even think as to why the accident occurred. I almost had an accident twice as a result of the unwanted elements, and so I have decided to raise this issue in your newspaper.
I take this opportunity to request the concerned authorities to ensure that all intersections are free from unwanted elements, so that traffic can flow smoothly and that accidents can be avoided.
