"Pure food"

The "Star City" issue of 16-Jan runs an alarming head-line: "Mobile court drive set to end"- so, is this supposed to mean that our need for pure food is over? The drives against adulterated and sub-standard food-items should simply be a continuous and never-ending process. Formulation of the Pure Food Act, 2005 cannot be an end in itself.

The law has to be strictly enforced on a day-to-day basis. Otherwise, it will meet the same fate of so many other laws of this country which got obliterated due to lack of practice. Special directorates/cells with adequate magistracy power should be formed to look into these matters on a permanent basis.
