RAB must find new excuses to kill criminals

A notorious criminal is arrested by RAB. Upon interrogation, he reveals the whereabouts of arms and ammunition hidden by his gang. RAB goes to recover the weapon cache in the middle of the night with the criminal showing them the way. As soon as they reach the secret hideout, accomplices of the criminal open fire on RAB. RAB fires back. In the "crossfire" the criminal is killed. All the accomplices manage to escape. None of the RAB members gets hurt. A few weapons are recovered.

This is the same, monotonous story people have been reading in newspapers time and again since RAB has started operating in Bangladesh. More than forty criminals have so far been killed by RAB in these more or less identical "crossfires". However, the point of my writing this letter is not to complain about these obviously staged killings. After all, RAB is killing people who are mostly listed criminals and murderers themselves. And in a country where innocent people cannot get justice and politically-connected, career criminals cannot be brought to justice, RAB is probably doing us all a favour. What I am complaining about is the complete lack of imagination and intelligence RAB has shown in sticking to a singular story line - one they should have abandoned after first couple of times, and maybe come back to it only later. After all, running the same story over and over again not only makes the story a little suspect, it also makes people bored.

Let me suggest a few other stories RAB could use and make these news a little more interesting to read. 1. RAB takes the criminal to find arms on the roof of a building (maybe on a rainy night). He slips and falls to his death; 2. the criminal goes to bathroom and hangs himself from the ceiling; 3. the criminal tries to escape by swimming across a river but, being a poor swimmer, drowns; 4. chased by RAB, the criminal jumps off a bridge and drowns; 5. the criminal runs and falls under a vehicle which happens to belong to RAB; 6. fleeing in dark, the criminal falls in a ditch and breaks his neck, etc. Then, why not start using "heart attack" again? True, our Army has over-used this excuse in the ironically named "Operation Clean Heart" a few years ago, but there's no reason RAB cannot squeeze reuse it, somewhat sparingly. It's a much more credible excuse anyone can have a heart attack thinking what awaits his fate once arrested by RAB.

I would request RAB to seriously consider the above excuses and start using them in the future. It's fine to kill criminals, but RAB has also managed to kill originality and imagination of human mind. That's just not acceptable!
