Re-electing GWB
As an American, I can assure you that Bush is highly unpopular among a large percentage of the nation. Unfortunately, it appears that he has gained popularity since the 2000 election. However, this does not mean that there are not still Americans who agree with the rest of the world that George W. Bush is a tyrant, a terrorist, a hypocrite, and a horrible leader. We are the Americans who protested the war, the Republican convention, who wrote letters to our congresspersons and spoke out against Bush's dangerous policies. And we are the Americans who voted for Kerry, Nader, or an alternate candidate -- basically anyone but Bush, because we understand how dangerous his policies are. As citizens of a developed country, we will never fully understand the plight of the less developed nations, but we are concerned for your welfare, and we will fight for your rights when our government is doing something to harm you.
I feel that OH Kabir is also incorrect in the assertion that Bangladeshis must not concern themselves with the far away politics of the US. I wish that this were not the case, but unfortunately, with the world political situation being what it is, the US has a dangerous and completely undue amount of political power. People of the world may object to this power, and justly so, but I encourage you, no matter where you live, to educate yourself about Bush's policies. If you remain ignorant, it will make it that much easier for him to trick or mislead you, the way he has tricked or misled so many Americans.
