Reception and school girls

It has become customary to take the girl students of schools to accord reception to political leaders or foreign dignitaries. The girls are forced to keep standing on the roadsides under the scorching sun. Such a disquieting spectacle was observed during the PM's recent meeting held at Mohammadpur in the city. The school committee and teachers of Mohammadpur Girls' High School kept the minor students confined up to 3:00pm in the school compound and had them treated with lunch (biriani). Many students felt embarrassed, but did not dare protest, for they are of the age only to meekly obey the orders of their teachers.

The authorities concerned should look for alternative or better arrangements on such occasions.
