Reverie of Vajpayee

PM of India AB Vajpayee daydreams nowadays. In a peace conference sponsored by The Hindustan Times in New Delhi, he delivered an ambitious speech. He dreams of a single currency in South Asia. He wants to imitate EU. His brainchild apparently sounds impossible and it may be a pipe dream. SAPTA and SAFTA are in limbo. Only FTA is present between India and Sri Lanka and SAARC is moribund due to conflict between India and Pakistan.

Diplomatic ties fluctuate and political scenario is volatile in South Asia. Political landscape should be stabilised and functions of SARRC should be boosted for the welfare of South Asia. I hope South Asia will be a carbon copy of EU in future.
