Rowdy post-accident behaviour
It seems as a nation we know just too well our problems but too unconcerned to take steps to tackle them. Students who are supposed to be the future vanguard of the nation openly demonstrate behaviour that should scare the hell out of those who think we have a future. Vandalism such as the one we are discussing has assumed this proportion because in the past all political parties, in their desire to use students for their political goals, have encouraged such behaviour. Now it seems things have changed and political parties are now less inclined to do the mischief they have in the past. In the belief that they would help end this problem, I urge upon the government to do take the following steps.
First, intelligence agencies should photograph students in such acts which should be easy given the advance in technology. Second, these photographs should be published in all newspapers very prominently so that families from where these culprits come are put to shame. Finally, the law should take its own course and meanwhile the education institutions where these students study should rusticate them for a good number of years.
Those who participate in these acts and are not students should be treated as ordinary criminals and shown the long arm of the law.
These acts of vandalism have continued because students feel very secure that they would never be questioned for their acts. The above steps, if taken, will, I have no doubt, end these acts of vandalism provided that political parties, including the government, do not side with the criminals.
