Running out of ideas

Our negative political culture reminds us of hen-pecked husbands. The parliamentary opposition in Dhaka, regardless of the name of the party, display one-track mind. It has spent year after year in chasing the parties in power, disregarding the other side of the coin. Similar virus affects the parties in the regimehow to belittle the opposition. The majority of the energies are dissipated in bilateral disputes.

That explains the insignificant progress of the nation in 30 years.

One supreme example is enough. The two major parties ignore the contribution in the liberation movement of the chief of the other party, namely Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Ziaur Rahman, although all citizens living during that period were aware of the facts.

The other gripe of the citizens is that the continuity is not maintained at the national level by the successive alternate regimes, greatly retarding the normal accelerated pace of development activities. At the bottom level is the burlesque of renaming institutions or development projects.

Where is the limit of the hate campaign? Why support either party? Let them bask in their own vanity. Where is the respect for a leader who ignores facts? Today we feel like ghosts, headless and bodyless. No point in wagging tails.
