Saarc Summit

Bangladesh can duly be proud of the role that it had played in the formation of Saarc. Now it is admitted on all hands that Saarc can play a vital role in regional development.

In the past, it was generally believed that the member states in the grouping were not making determined efforts to push Saarc forward. But the situation is different now. The winds of change are blowing across the subcontinent, and shouldn't Saarc take advantage of the situation? India and Pakistan are now making sincere efforts to forge a durable relation. So tension in the subcontinent is very likely to get defused with all these positive developments,

Now we expect the Saarc countries to get down to the business of changing people's lots. They have to work together for attaining the common goals.

The interest that China has shown in Saarc does suggest that the grouping has a future insofar as trade and commerce in the region is concerned.

I believe we should welcome China and other countries in the region to make Saarc stronger and broad-based.

The Saarc countries can indeed look forward to a bright future as they have the potential to compete with the highly developed nations in every respect.
