Save our political heritage!

We should take immediate steps to preserve as Political Heritage (like the Sunderbans) the choice samples of our current debased political culture, the like of which our future generations might never witness again. It is something unique invented by the leaders of the two major political parties since democratic elections were introduced (or re-introduced?) in the country since 1990. The spirit is not there -- only gas, and the gas is artificial, not natural! The soil is not right, and fertilisers don't work. Try some new GE/GM (genetic) politics? There is a severe shortage of political gardeners, as horticulturists cannot be trained.

We can never reach such a standard again, thanks to the originality in polite-tics displayed by our highly ambitious political leaders, who were never afraid of making the greatest sacrifice on moral grounds to achieve their life-long ambition of the minority depriving the majority of the means of wherewithal.

It is a familiar symptom in the new emerging countries, but the Bengalees have now turned ruthless, intolerant, cruel, and murderous. The killer instinct is the order of the day. A keen Japanese JICA observer of the Dhaka scenes wrote (in the DS) an illuminating commentary of the present psyche of the Bangladeshi mind. The insecurity syndrome has turned into grab, grab, and grab philosophy. Why have we become so trigger-happy? Do we need so many hidden godfathers (funny, no godmothers are ever mentioned)? It is the high density of population (the birth rate has gone down from 3 to 1.5 percent, a record in the third world).

The political stock exchange is operating well in Dhaka (according to the nefarious players). It is gambling, not lucky prizes. Games of chance are prohibited in some religions. Some groups are trying to be more religious, causing embarrassment to others. How to stop these fire drills?
